Shift Supervisor Job description


The Shift Supervisor assists the Operations Leadership Team in maintaining an efficient, positive environment that ensures present company goals and objectives are being met.


The Shift Supervisor reports to the Department Manager. The Shift Supervisor assists in training, customer service, promoting awareness of product, processes, policy knowledge, team accountability, education, scheduling and encouraging safe work practices while championing the 4 main GOAT goals.


  • Perform and ensure completion of all shift duties, outlined on the daily checklist in a safe, timely, on schedule, lawful manner according to company procedures and policies.

  • Perform duties of all roles in the department as needed, acting as a relief help.

  • Monitor all assigned company communication channels, email boxes, system memos etc.

  • Attend all mandatory company and client meetings.

  • Assist with dispatch office duties, scheduling, training, and coaching team members in assigned department on software systems, policies and procedures.

  • Monitor the workload of the department schedule, ensuring enough staff coverage is forecasted.

  • Effectively and directly communicate with team members, client, vendors and associates in person, via phone, text messages, system messages, emails and radio requests in a positive, professional manner.

  • Process, record and transmit department information and reports accurately throughout company systems.

  • Demonstrate the ability to lead, communicate and champion the BAC core values, company policies and standard operating procedures. Must actively set an example for team members regarding great customer service, company policies, and procedures compliance.

  • Ensure the top four goals are met by leading the team through decision making, guidance, coaching, training, accountable measures and clear direction especially regarding to performance expectations.

  • Promote and practice safe work habits, maintain a positive, clean, organized and safe work environment reporting potential safety hazards to the Department Manager.

  • Report/document, investigate and determine the root cause of department incidents.

  • Proactively prevent, satisfy and solve customer concerns or service failures in various situations.

  • Executes all terms and conditions as set forth in BAC Transportation’s employee handbook.

  • Fulfill all other duties assigned by the Department Manager.


  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with one year of customer service experience.

  • Minimum of 1 year’s previous supervisory experience.

  • Must have consistent, reliable transportation to and from work.

  • Must possess computer skills and be able to learn new computer software in a quick and effective manner.

  • Punctuality and flexibility in schedule, including but not limited to, able to work weekends, evenings, holidays and special events.

  • Well-organized and detail-oriented and able to multi-task with a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information.

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and climb stairs for an extended period of time.

  • Must be able to bend, lift and push over 50lbs and perform proper body mechanics while performing duties safely.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written English communication skills.

  • Must be able to communicate by telephone, text email, and in person in a courteous, friendly and professional manner with all clients, vendors, staff and co-workers.

  • Must enjoy working with people, possess empathic abilities in dealing with clients and their needs.

  • Must demonstrate respectful and professional body language at all times.

  • Must be able to learn and remember pick-up and destination points.

  • Must be able to understand signs, read flight displays and follow directions.

  • Must possess good eyesight, hearing and a good memory for details and procedures. 

  • Must pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol tests.

Must clear a Criminal History Records Check and Security Threat Assessment in order to be qualified for an Airport badge

Physical Demands:

This work requires sitting, standing, walking and climbing for long periods of time and using office equipment. It may require bending, lifting and pushing over 50lbs and moving supplies and materials from time to time.

Environmental Conditions:

Work is typically performed in an office environment in Anchorage, Alaska. The work environment may include exposure to high levels of noise, cooler temperatures and be physically demanding. Work may also be performed occasionally outdoors. The Shift Supervisor is faced with constant interruption and must meet with others on a regular basis. It can be stressful when dealing with emergency situations or with routine work punctuated by very busy periods.

Sensory Demands:

Long hours of intense concentration on the computer and problem solving.

Mental Demands:

There are a number of important responsibilities with deadlines associated with this position that may cause significant stress.
